Back in 2016, I worked with Paula and Rachel from Beauty Boulevard to launch their website. The brand took off so quickly that they were invited onto Dragon’s Den to pitch to the investors. (Yes, businesses sometimes get invited even when they’re not actively seeking funding.)
While the glitter-on-Peter-Jones moment was certainly memorable, what mattered most to me was this: when the show aired, and traffic surged, the website didn’t flinch. No crashes. No scrambling. No panicked hosting calls.
Ever since then, I’ve made a habit of checking the websites of companies pitching on TV — and more often than not, they struggle under the pressure. Ours didn’t. And that’s something I’m quietly proud of.
