For the first year, we’ve spent less than £30 and we have our host, domain name and our email squared away. Don’t forget that the renewal is NOT at the same price and you’ll pay a rate that reflects the quality of the service.

It would be best if you were involved with this process as registering your new domain is part of the process and you should be the owner, the more control you have over your website the better.

I’ll take it from here

It’ll be a templated solution and by that I mean it will be a pre-designed theme and in some cases it’ll have inbuilt functionality that supports your business model (booking system, shop etc). When it comes to building sites anything is possible but the less you want to change regarding the structure and functionality the less you’ll have to pay.

A pre-built theme costs from $39 to $79 depending on the size and functionality, I do have a library of these, but I like to revisit them regularly to ensure that we’re leaning into the latest design trends.

The price that I’ll charge for putting your site together is purely based on the time it takes me to put it together, if I have to chase you around for days trying to get your opening statement then it’ll cost you more than if you have all the content ready for me to add to the appropriate locations.

Because I’ve been doing this for so long the estimate I give you is never far off. But if you’re interested in how long it took I use a little device called Timeular to track the time I spend on projects.

So what’s the actual cost?

Your initial layout is around £30 after which you’ll have your domain name registered, the ability to create your email addresses and you’ll be ready to start building your website.

Lets say we use a medium priced theme at $49 (£38) and we don’t use any premium plugins for some specific functionality. Bringing your text and details into the site sourcing royalty-free images and testing for mobile and desktop would cost roughly £180 so you’ve spent £248 and have a site built and ready for business.

You’ve also got a Digital Smartarse on your team and I’m not sure I can put a price on that.

What if I want changes?

I’ve simplified that process, if you’re an existing client I have a fixed task fee of £39 with a simple promise, if you can ask for it in one sentence and you don’t use the word ‘AND’ it should be £39.

You just click on the Submit Task button and send in the task.

Let’s do this!

If you want to book a meeting click here or comment on this post and I’ll take it from there.

All teams need a
